THE Green Party plans to cut PRSI and VAT rates if it forms part of the next government.

The party says it will also introduce a carbon tax on fossil fuels and replace vehicle registration tax with an environmental charge to encourage motorists to switch to eco-friendly cars.

Outlining the Green’s tax plans, leader Trevor Sargent said the proposals were based on more moderate economic growth conditions than the other parties but would deliver a level of equity that is not being matched by Fianna Fáil and the Progressive Democrats.
