RELATIVES of former patients at the controversial Leas Cross nursing home last night welcomed news of a Commission of Investigation focusing on the facility.

Health Minister Mary Harney announced the inquiry just days before the north Dublin nursing home reopens its doors under new management.

Ms Harney said she was conscious of the “gravity of issues” raised by previous reviews of the 111-bed facility and the public concern that followed these.
