Most people on waiting lists in very good accommodation: Ahern

THE majority of people on waiting lists for social and affordable housing are in “very good accommodation,” Housing Minister Noel Ahern said yesterday.

According to the last nationwide Housing Needs Assessment, carried out in 2005, almost 44,000 individuals and families were in need of local authority housing.

The assessment, carried out once every three years, is a compilation of local authority waiting lists.
