Lengthy treatment for 12 children in fresh TB scare

UP to 12 children at a Cork city childcare centre face a lengthy course of antibiotic treatment to prevent the development of full blown tuberculosis (TB) after a former staff member was diagnosed with the disease.

The news comes just one day after the Irish Examiner revealed that an additional seven confirmed cases of TB had been found in children at Nurture Childcare, Ardfallon Mallon, in Douglas.

Two further staff members at the facility are expected to hear today whether they have the disease.
