Gardaí seize €420,000 of cocaine

GARDAÍ believe a maternity hospital’s car park was used to stash drugs as visitors would come and go at all hours of the day and night without arousing suspicion.

A senior garda made the comment yesterday as it was revealed drugs squad detectives had found €420,000 worth of cocaine in a car parked at St Finbarr’s Hospital in Cork city. It is the biggest seizure of cocaine in the city this year.

The discovery was made after plainclothes gardaí put a tail on a car belonging to members of a drug dealing gang, based in Gurranabraher and alleged to control distribution in the northside of the city.
