Festival website ‘one-stop shop for information’

A LIMERICK city festival website was launched yesterday to give the public the latest comprehensive information on city festivals planned for this year.

The site, limerickcityfestivals.com includes an in-depth micro site for the upcoming St Patrick’s Springfest, a 12-month festival calendar for the region, a summary of Limerick’s history, key tourist information and a portal to local hotel and guest accommodation.

Preparations for St Patrick’s Springfest 2007 are well advanced.

A spokesperson said: “Limerick City Festival Office is looking for volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds to help them to run the festival. The volunteers will get an opportunity to contribute to the success of their own local festival and experience first hand the workings of one of Ireland’s largest and most successful St Patrick’s Day festivals.”

Speaking at the launch of the festival website, Sarah Lynch of Eightball Promotions & Media, who acts as creative director for the Limerick City Festival Office, said there was general delight the user-friendly website was now online.

“It is providing the people of Limerick and beyond with a one-stop shop for all information on upcoming festivals in the city. We are also delighted to be able to initiate the Springfest volunteer programme and would like to invite any local people who wish to get involved to contact us as soon as possible as these positions are limited,” she said.

Ms Lynch thanked all who have contributed to the ongoing development of Limerick as a leading festival destination, including all their strategic partners and the numerous musical, artistic and cultural groups who have participated in festivals such as Springfest.

The Limerick City Festival office was established in 2005.

The office is responsible for organising Limerick’s primary annual festivals, St Patrick’s Springfest and Riverfest and aims to improve their national and international reputation of these festivals.

The website was designed by Limerick company Tricycle Interactive and can be accessed by logging on to: www.limerickcityfestivals.com.
