A RYANAIR plane full of Ireland rugby fans sparked an alert at Shannon Airport last night when brake pads apparently overheated during landing.

Airport fire crews surrounded the plane after what fans said was an unusually bumpy landing at about 10.30pm following their flight from Bristol.

Passengers said they noticed a smell of smoke in the cabin shortly after they had landed and were told the brakepads had overheated, causing smoke.
