Exposé brings daily gossip to TV3
Exposé will be hosted by popular presenter, Lorraine Keane, and present up-to-date information on all the main high-profile events taking place in Ireland, Hollywood and beyond.
The station’s entertainment correspondent, who is currently on maternity leave after the birth of her second child, will present the new 30-minute show each weekday from April. It will feature news and gossip from events such as award ceremonies, film premieres, concerts and fashion shows.
Exposé will go out in direct competition to the Six-One news on RTÉ1 from 6.00-6.30pm and is one of TV3’s flagship programmes in its new spring/summer season which was formally launched yesterday.
TV3 bosses hope it will help the station regain its position as the country’s second favourite channel after recently losing that position to RTÉ 2.
TV3 chief executive, David McRedmond, said Exposé was evidence of the station’s intention to increase its share of home-produced programming.
Other highlights of its forthcoming season include “Inside and Out,” which is billed as Ireland’s first ever extreme makeover show. It will follow the fortunes of four Irish people who go to unusual lengths to improve their personal appearance, including plastic surgery.
A major new US drama series set in a TV station, “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip,” from the makers of the West Wing and starring Friends actor, Matthew Perry, is being tipped as one of the hit programmes of 2007.
TV3 will also screen a feature-length documentary presented by award-winning journalist, Donal MacIntyre on Loyalist terrorist, Johnny “Mad Dog” Adair later this month.
Top films to be shown over coming months include Alfie, Troy, Ocean’s 12 and Closer.
Mr McRedmond said TV3’s new owners, British venture capitalist firm, Doughty Hanson which bought the station for €265m last year, were committed to developing programming.
“They are not about cost-cutting but about growth,” he remarked.
TV3 also scored a major coup over RTÉ in obtaining the TV rights for Irish games and the knock-out stages of the 2007 Rugby World cup this autumn.
