PDs amused as website makes fun of FG strife

FINE Gael’s current troubles led to some glee in PD circles last night.

Later this month, Fine Gael will launch an advertising campaign attacking PD leader and Tánaiste Michael McDowell.

Billboards will suggest Mr McDowell to be claiming “Everything is just great!” despite rising murder, rape and gun crime rates. Yesterday, however, a contributor to the politics.ie website posted a doctored image of the billboard.

It features images of Mr Kenny and the two young TDs, John Deasy and Damien English.

Under the same ironic slogan, “Everything is just great!”, Mr Kenny is seen remarking: “I could have got away with it if it wasn’t for you pesky kids.”

Meanwhile, PD president Tom Parlon said claims by Mr Kenny that Fine Gael is enjoying a 20-year polls high as “fraudulent”. The most positive poll for Fine Gael put the party on 27%. But Mr Tom Parlon said Fine Gael had taken 29.3% of the vote under Garret FitzGerald’s leadership in the 1989 election, and 28% under John Bruton in 1997.
