Government to seek bishops’ views on children’s rights referendum

IRISH bishops will meet the Government in the next fortnight to debate the proposed children’s rights referendum.

It was confirmed last night that Children’s Minister Brian Lenihan will be part of the delegation meeting senior clergy members over the referendum’s wording.

In December, the minister said the agreed wording for a Constitutional change would be finalised soon.
