Hunt for missing people continues
Gardaí reported yesterday that the latest person to go missing was Barry Doyle, a 29-year-old father-of-two from Fermoy, Co Cork.
He was last seen by his family when he left their home at 13 Uplands at 10pm last Wednesday. However, gardaí have confirmed that CCTV footage showed him walking along the town’s Courthouse Road at 2am on Thursday.
Yesterday gardaí, aided by Mr Doyle’s family and friends, were searching the town and banks along the River Blackwater.
He is described as 5’10” tall, of thin build, has black hair and recently grew a goatee beard. He was wearing a navy and yellow jacket, fawn pants and dark shoes. Anybody who has spotted Mr Doyle is asked to contact Fermoy Garda Station at 025 82 100.
Meanwhile, the garda helicopter joined the searches in Cork city for Joseph Mullally, the 21-year-old student who has been missing since the early hours of December 15, and Breda Morrissey, aged 47, who was last seen at her home in Lotamore Avenue in Mayfield. She also went missing the same day.
The garda helicopter spent several hours hovering over the city and the mud-flats in the lower harbour as up to 10 boats criss-crossed the area. More boats scoured the city channels of the River Lee.
Ms Morrissey has type two diabetes and schizophrenia. She is about 5’ 10” tall, has mousey-blonde hair and was last seen wearing a blue tracksuit, white sneakers and a quilted beige jacket. Her two front teeth are missing.
Mr Mullally was socialising with friends at An Bróg pub on Oliver Plunkett Street on Thursday. He stayed in the pub as his friends left about 1.30am.
Superintendent Michael Finn said that Mr Mullally made a call at that stage on his mobile phone and was seen on CCTV walking out towards Western Road. He has not been seen since.
“We are appealing to any member of the public who might have seen him between 1.30am and 2am to contact Anglesea Street garda station at 021 452 2000,” Supt Finn said.
Mr Mullally is about 6’ tall, of slim build, has mousey-blond hair, and was wearing brown trainers, dark blue jeans, a beige cord jacket and a blue T-shirt.
