FORMER Taoiseach Albert Reynolds admitted there were many rumours about the source of Charles Haughey’s wealth, but said he had effectively ignored them.

‘‘There (were) rumours around for a long time, but I mean, rumours are rumours and politics is never short of rumours,’’ he said. ‘‘I didn’t see any proof of it about.’’

Mr Reynolds was reacting to Tuesday’s publication of the interim report of the Moriarty Tribunal, which was scathing of the late Mr Haughey.
