Ireland has EU’s highest birth rate, study shows

IRELAND’S population explosion continues apace as births boom and fewer people are dying.

Latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) showed 15,979 births registered in the second quarter (Q2) of this year.

It represented an annual birth rate of 15.1 per 1,000 of the population, 0.3 above the Q2 last year.
