Greens call for tightening of laws on conflicts of interest
The Greenâs finance spokesman Dan Boyle called for tighter legislation to stop financial institutions appearing to attempt to influence powerful clients through favours.
The Moriarty tribunal report found AIB made an âindirect paymentâ to disgraced former Taoiseach Mr Haughey by accepting ÂŁ750,000 to settle his ÂŁ1 million-plus debt. Mr Boyle warned that such âsweetenerâ deals may happen again.
