Dear Dublin: capital 20% more expensive

DUBLINERS are paying handsomely for the privilege of living in one of Europe’s most expensive capitals, with everyday purchases up to 20% dearer than elsewhere in Ireland.

New figures show a pint of lager costs €4.39 on average in Dublin — 11.5% more expensive than in the provinces where the drink is €3.94.

Cinema tickets are 20.3% costlier at €8.87, while a simple haircut for a woman is €38.66 in Dublin — 18.9% more expensive than elsewhere in Ireland.
