Cowen defends position on health, transport and education

FINANCE Minister Brian Cowen yesterday rejected suggestions that the Government was failing to deliver improvements in the areas of health, education and transport.

The opposition has accused the Government of failing to tackle hospital waiting lists, reduce class sizes and ease traffic backlogs despite the record resources at its disposal.

But Mr Cowen, speaking during his traditional post-Budget interview on RTÉ Radio, said improvements were being seen.
