Schoolgirls overtake schoolboys for cannabis consumption, study reveals
The EMCDDA report said that more 15 to 16-year-old Irish schoolgirls had taken cannabis, and taken it more frequently, than boys of the same age. The study said this development occurred between 1995 and 2003.
In addition, Irish schoolgirls have overtaken boys for lifetime ecstasy consumption, one of four countries out of 27 European states where that has happened. And Irish schoolgirls are just as bad as boys for binge drinking, a title they share with only Britain and Norway. In both countries, girls are worse than boys.
