Lord of the dance ‘feeling a bit better’
A spokesperson for the former Riverdance star said yesterday: “Michael is feeling a little bit better and is just anxious to make it back to Castlehyde to rest and recover.”
The exact nature of the illness which led to him being hospitalised at the private London Clinic two weeks ago remains unknown, but it’s now thought that the Chicago-born dancer was suffering from a viral infection.
The illness has prompted the cancellation of the European tour of Celtic Tiger, Flatley’s latest show which was due to begin in Belgium last Tuesday and was scheduled to arrive at The Point in Dublin early next month.
His spokesperson said there’s no date yet for Flatley’s discharge from hospital, but hopes are high that he’ll be able to return to his Castlehyde mansion near Fermoy next week.
It’s feared that it will be well into 2007 before Flatley will be able to dance on stage again.
His spokesperson added that the world-famous performer has been “overwhelmed” by messages of support from his fans around the world since news broke of his condition.
His spokeswoman said: “He was really looking forward to the tour. He wants to get better and get back on stage.”
