Court to rule on baby ‘Ann’ appeal

THE Supreme Court is to issue its ruling today in a tug-of-love case in which a couple is seeking to overturn a court order stopping them for regaining custody of a baby they gave up for adoption two years ago.

The young married couple are appealing a landmark High Court decision that their two-year-old daughter — who they gave up for adoption because they were unmarried at the time of her birth — should now be allowed stay with another couple who have cared for her for the past two years.

Five judges of the Supreme Court, including Chief Justice John Murray, will give their ruling in the case of baby ‘Ann’ this morning.
