A MAN was stabbed to death in Dublin last night, the second killing of its kind in the capital over the weekend.

The man died, shortly after 8pm, following a disturbance at Tyrone Place, Vincent Street West.

The 33-year-old, who has not yet been named, was pronounced dead shortly after he arrived at St James Hospital.

The scene was last night cordoned off pending the arrival of the garda technical experts.

In an earlier incident, a 23-year-old man died following a stabbing incident in Blanchardstown, Dublin in the early hours of yesterday morning.

He was named as Tony McGrath of 48 Whitestown Walk, Whitestown in Blanchardstown.

The incident occurred at a house in Whitestown Walk in Dublin 15 and the local man was taken to Blanchardstown’s James Connolly Memorial Hospital.

It is understood that a row had broken out between three men at a house in Blanchardstown where the stabbing occurred.

A 35-year-old man was arrested yesterday morning in connection with the incident and was questioned at Blanchardstown Garda Station.

The man was released without charge last night and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecution.

Gardaí could not confirm whether anyone else was being sought in relation to the fatal stabbing and the scene of the incident remained preserved yesterday, pending a full technical examination.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
