Bill for crisis-hit PPARS to top €186m

TAXPAYERS’ bill for the health service’s crisis-ridden PPARS payroll system is set to top €186 million — and it still can’t cope with sick leave.

A damning report compiled for the HSE and leaked yesterday by Fine Gael exposed an error-prone initiative which continues to swallow €21m a year.

The probe by Astron Consulting warned PPARS could turn into a “never-ending project” and that “overall project governance appears to have gone” in the past year.
