Dáil to discuss plans for user-friendly social services

NEW legislation is to be brought before the Dáil next week to create a customer-friendly information service for people seeking social services, it was revealed yesterday.

It will also see a new advice service set up for people with disabilities who have difficulties obtaining assistance from the State.

Social and Family Affairs Minister Seamus Brennan said it was a major overhaul and modernisation of the sector. “The provision of independent, clear and accessible information has a central role in helping to break down barriers, eases anxieties, opens up opportunities and very often clears the way for citizens, particularly those who are most vulnerable in society, to improve their situations and build better lives,” he said.
