Media stars of the future get chance to shine

THE next generation of Irish media stars will have a chance to showcase their talents in a competition aimed at giving children a better understanding of the developing world.

The Our World Children’s Media Awards will be presented early next year to winning teams of primary pupils for newsletters, magazines, radio programmes or advertisements which highlight global aims for the developing world.

Children from third to sixth class in the Republic and in years five to seven in Northern Ireland are being asked to focus their efforts on the eight Millennium Development Goals, agreed by Ireland and 189 other countries six years ago.
