Psychiatric nurses vow not to cooperate with Mental Health Act

PSYCHIATRIC nurses will not cooperate with the Mental Health Act when they come into effect in less than four weeks.

The Psychiatric Nurses Association said its 4,800 members have not been consulted on how the more important changes will be implemented and what they are expected to do after November 1.

PNA industrial relations’ officer Seamus Murphy is adamant that major reforms will not be sprung on nurses without clear guidelines.
