CONSUMER groups last night backed plans to restrict property management firms charging exorbitant fees to tenants and homeowners.

The Government’s National Consumer Agency (NCA) is today unveiling its long-awaited report into the practices of such firms, which will recommend an overhaul of the industry.

The firms, which are put in place by developers, charge tenants in apartment blocks as well homeowners on new estates an annual fee for communal lighting, paths, cleaning, water and sewerage.
