Geldof hopes to raise hepatitis C awareness

CAMPAIGNING rocker Bob Geldof is spearheading a campaign to raise awareness of hepatitis C across the globe.

Around 20,000 people are thought to be infected with the virus in Ireland, and more than 180 million worldwide. However, only a fraction of those in Ireland are aware that they have the illness.

The campaign was launched in Ireland yesterday, and is targeting the 18-35 age group.
