Doctors, chemists face legal changes

THE Government will publish two separate Bills this autumn that will result in radical changes in the regulation of doctors and pharmacists.

The legislation programme includes the Medical Practitioners Bill and the Pharmacy (No 1) Bill among 21 pieces of legislation due to be published between now and Christmas.

The Medical Practitioners Bill has been expected, following Minister for Health Mary Harney’s response to the reports into practices at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
