Energy saving software puts local authority on the road to worldwide success

A LOCAL authority overseeing unprecedented road building has been honoured with a world-class award.

Waterford County Council beat stiff competition — from 260 local authorities worldwide — to take the accolade, which is awarded for “inspiring achievements” in the field of infrastructure development.

The winning entry involved a piece of software that will allow engineers keep an eye on energy efficiency in the route selection stages of road design.
