Resources ‘unavailable’ to open children’s unit

A SPECIALIST children’s unit cannot open at Limerick Regional Hospital because the health authority has not got the money needed to equip and staff it, nurses claimed yesterday.

Resources ‘unavailable’ to open children’s unit

It was reported that the unit was due to open this week but the Irish Nurses’ Organisation (INO) said this was not possible because the necessary resources were still not available.

Resources identified by the INO as being necessary to open the unit include some 15 children’s staff nurse posts and the purchase of and training in the use of specialist equipment.
