Government receives report on scale-down of British security in North
Justice Minister Michael McDowell yesterday confirmed he had received the 11th report of the Independent Monitoring Commission (IMC), the body established by the two governments to monitor paramilitary ceasefires and the British demilitarisation programme.
The latest report concentrates on the “normalisation” procedures Britain has put in place. The British government outlined the demilitarisation programme in August last year following the IRA’s declaration of an end to its armed campaign.
