Childcare costs force premature school start

RISING childcare costs are forcing many parents to send their children to school earlier than planned.

New research showed many school beginners are not socially ready for the classroom.

A total of 500 pre-school and junior infant teachers who took part in the study into the transition to primary school, felt that parents used reasons other than the child’s readiness when deciding when to send them to school.
