Green light for wind turbines

A WIND energy company has been granted planning permission for 18 large turbines in Terelton, while a developer has been refused the go-ahead for 58 homes in Glanmire.

Barna Wind Energy, a company based in Lissarda, has got the green light from Cork County Council planners to construct 18 turbines, 18 transformers and a 70 metre-high monitoring mast at Barnadivane, Terelton

Bantry-based Murnane & O’Shea has been refused permission to proceed with 14 houses and 44 apartments at Springmount, Glanmire. The same company has lodged an application in the townland of Poulacurry South for 27 houses.

Bride View Developments is seeking approval for 44 homes at Castleredmond, Midleton.

However, another development planned for Midleton has been put on hold after objections were made by a residents’ association.

Coleman Brothers Ltd had been granted permission by the council to develop 130 apartments, 24 houses, plus commercial and community facilities at Ballynacorra.

Meanwhile, the clergy have been given permission to demolish the existing porch and bell tower at St Patrick’s Church, Innishannon. They will be allowed to construct a new entrance and also carry out significant refurbishment.
