RTÉ faces long wait for Flynn libel costs

RTÉ expects to go through “a quite lengthy legal process” before it recovers the €1.6 million it is owed by former Fianna Fáil TD Beverly Flynn.

The bill arose after the taxing master of the High Court awarded RTÉ its legal costs following unsuccessful libel proceedings brought by Ms Flynn.

In May, the Irish Examiner reported that the national broadcaster had referred to the matter to the county registrar, or sheriff, in Flynn’s home county of Mayo, in line with standard procedure when a bill is not promptly settled.
