THOUSANDS of motorists got the opportunity to fly over the so-called ‘magic roundabout’ yesterday, thus avoiding one of the country’s most notorious bottlenecks.

Lord Mayor of Cork Michael Ahern, and County Mayor John O’Shea, had the privilege of being the first motorists to use the €50 million Kinsale Road roundabout flyover and were followed by thousands more, shortly after noon.

It is expected that more than 55,000 vehicles will use it everyday this weekend.
