TIRED of hearing politicians talk? Well, you’re about to hear them sing.

Politicians get ready to rock the vote for charity

And even if it is an ear-splitting experience, as Paddy Power worker Lisa Sterio found out yesterday, at least the money raised is going to a good cause.

Hoping to hit the right note when the Celebrity You’re a Star TV show begins tonight are The Politicians — an unlikely coalition of Fianna Fáil TD Billy Kelleher, Fine Gael senator Frank Feighan, Labour senator Michael McCarthy and Green TD Dan Boyle.

All the political parties have united — temporarily, of course — to encourage their supporters to give the Politicians their No 1.

Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny said it was rare for the leader of his party to canvass support for any Fianna Fáil politician but, he said, in this instance the Irish Hospice Foundation would be the beneficiary of all the votes received.

“I hope that Fine Gael supporters and supporters of all other parties will tune in on Saturday and lend their support for this harmonious, albeit, short-term coalition,” he said.

Green Party Leader, Trevor Sargent TD appealed to record companies and talent scouts not to approach Dan Boyle with offers of a solo career as he had important electioneering work to do when the event was over.

Likely to top this poll, however, is RTÉ No Frontiers presenter, Kathryn Thomas. Paddy Power has seen a rush of bets for the popular presenter and have now put her chances of winning at 2/1 while sports commentator and first-time dad, Shane O’Donoghue, is at 5/1 to win.
