25,000 expected to attend races in Tramore

Details of the August festival at Waterford & Tramore Racecourse were announced last night.

This year’s event is set to attract record crowds to the seaside track in Co Waterford from Thursday to Sunday, August 17 to 20.

Organisers expect to attract more than 25,000 visitors who’ll see races with a combined prize fund of €250,000.

Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism John O’Donoghue said that it would boost the tourism season in one of Ireland’s busiest seaside resorts.

“The racing experience at Tramore has come on in leaps and bounds in recent years with a great focus on creating a festival atmosphere for visitors who will enjoy summer racing and some great entertainment. It’s also good that there is a dedicated day for families when younger people will be centre stage,” he said.
