Oh my, my! Mundy to play Kilkenny Festival

FESTIVAL revellers looking forward to the gig of the summer in the south-east next weekend can now look forward to bopping to Mundy, one of the acts at the long-awaited Bob Dylan gig.

Practically every available bed within ten miles of Kilkenny city has been booked up for the massive gig of the Summer at Nowlan Park on June 24. And tickets for the gig have been selling exceptionally well. The line-up now includes, Bob Dylan The Flaming Lips, Violent Femmes, Ray LaMontagne and Mundy.

Aiken Promotions yesterday confirmed that Mundy will join Bob Dylan and the other artists for this year’s Kilkenny Source Festival taking place on Saturday week.

Tickets are priced at €50, €55, €60, €65 and €70 and are available from Ticketmaster and usual outlets nationwide.

Mundy first emerged into the spotlight as a baby faced 20 year old back in 1996 — having spent the previous two years busking on the streets of Dublin, writing songs and showcasing them at the legendary open mic nights at the International Bar.

His talent was obvious from the very beginning, and the young singer was quickly snapped up by Sony Music, who released his debut album, Jellylegs, to great critical acclaim. World tours followed, including dates with Neil Young, Van Morrisson and Alanis Morrisette.

The Kilkenny Source Festival is now in its sixth year and continues to prove very popular with music fans, according to promoter, Peter Aiken.
