Gardaí investigate gang targeting Lithuanians

GARDAÍ are targeting up to three well-organised Lithuanian “mafia” gangs involved in a range of serious crimes, including a nationwide wages extortion racket.

The gangs, while based in west Dublin, operate across the country and exclusively target members of their own community, many of whom are terrified to seek help from the gardaí.

The gangs engage in blackmail, extortion, intimidation, drug dealing, counterfeiting, smuggling and kidnapping and have access to firearms.
