Motorcyclist becomes 162nd road fatality
The man in his mid 20s was killed after his motorbike was in collision with a car near Ballybricken on the Herbertstown road about seven miles from Limerick city.
The accident happened shortly before 11am yesterday on a bend in the road.
The victim was removed from the scene by ambulance to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick. Gardaí at Roxboro Road are investigating the accident.
A garda spokesman added that they would not release the name of the victim until all relatives had been informed.
Meanwhile a 16-year -old-girl who was struck by a car in Dublin on Friday night died in hospital the following day. The accident happened at 11.30pm at Annesley Bridge in Fairview in north Dublin.
The girl had been in a critical condition in the intensive care unit at Beaumont Hospital.
She was crossing the road at Annesley Bridge in Fairview when she was knocked down.
There have been a total of 33 pedestrians killed so far this year.
