A baby ‘Bull’ and a beauty queen

A WIFE and girlfriend kept the celebrations going yesterday in the Munster rugby team camp.

Fiona Steed, wife of giant prop forward John ‘Bull’ Hayes, gave birth to a baby girl, their first child.

Fiona is also an accomplished rugby player having captained the Ireland and Munster women’s teams.

And Eleanor Fitzgerald, girlfriend of hooker Jerry Flannery, was crowned Miss Limerick.

Eleanor, 21, from Castletroy, was selected from 33 contestants at the South Court Hotel and Jerry was on hand to greet the new Miss Limerick.

Eleanor said: “It is an amazing experience to be chosen as Miss Limerick. I didn’t enter the competition to win it. You get so much from it and make friends for life from it. I could not believe it when they called out my name.”

Eleanor, a beautician, said she got a great buzz walking up on stage.

She said: “I was delighted for Jerry this week as he has worked so hard for it all. I went to all the matches and he came along to the final here to support me. For once it’s the other way around.”
