Ex-sugar workers may lose up to €50,000

PRESSURE is building on Greencore in a dispute over redundancy terms for the 324 workers who lost their jobs with the closure of Mallow Sugar Factory.

SIPTU and the TEEU, who have accused the company of refusing to fully implement a severance package, have formed a joint action committee.

Workers maintain that those with long service stand to lose between €30,000 and €50,000 each because of the company’s interpretation of a Labour Court recommendation.
