Mobile phones enter a Brave New World
Majella Murphy has preloaded her new album âBrave New Worldâ on the Sony Ericsson Z530i. The album, which includes three live acoustic tracks, will not go on general digital release until July.
Speaking in Dublin yesterday, Pat Hughes of Sony Ericsson said the launch marked an exciting time for the collaboration of music and mobile phones.
âAs a world first, both Sony Ericsson and O2 are delighted to play a role in launching Majella Murphyâs album exclusively via mobile phone. Partnering with mobile technology provides a vital opportunity for gifted artists such as Majella to connect with audiences in new and more immediate waysâ.
Majellaâs career began to take off two years ago when she started playing the live music circuit culminating in the support slot for Jamie Cullum at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin.
Majella, who writes and arranges her own songs as well as playing guitar and harmonica, travelled to America to record her album with legendary producer Nathan Crowe.

The Sony Ericsson Z530i, containing Majellaâs album, will be available exclusively in O2 stores nationwide from early next month.
