Council workers withdraw strike notice

THREATENED strike action by local authority manual workers in Waterford city has been lifted to allow for talks at the Labour Court.

Waterford City Council last night welcomed the withdrawal of strike notice served on the local authority last week by SIPTU. All-out strike action had been threatened from Monday next.

The Labour Court is due to hear both sides of the dispute on Monday.
