Suspects on bail should be tagged: Kenny

SERIOUS crime suspects should be electronically tagged while on bail, Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny insisted last night as he demanded judges get tough on lawbreakers.

Mr Kenny told delegates at his party’s Árd Fheis in Dublin that making people who later turn out to be innocent wear the tags would be a “price worth paying”.

The Fine Gael leader said radical action was necessary as in the past two years 11,000 serious crimes were committed by people on bail, including 43 homicides, 500 assaults and 750 drug offences.
