THERE is serious concern over a lowly 50% take-up of an anti-meningitis booster vaccine despite a €10 million campaign last year by the Health Service Executive.

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) says the uptake was still below par and of concern.

The Hib booster vaccine campaign was launched last autumn after it emerged that an increased number of vaccinated children between the ages of 1 and 4 had contracted meningitis in 2004-2005.
