RTÉ plucks Gráinne from Sky

Galway-born Gráinne, who made her name presenting news bulletins, will front an as-yet-unnamed weekday show for RTÉ.

Speaking after the coup of snatching Gráinne from the mighty Sky TV satellite giant, RTÉ programmes boss Clare Duignan said: “We are delighted to welcome a broadcaster of Gráinne’s professionalism, profile and talent to our stable.”

The format of the late afternoon autumn show has yet to be decided by RTÉ bosses.

Gráinne said: “I have had two great years working with Sky News Ireland and it was fantastic to have been involved in the launch of its Irish service.

“I am now really looking forward to working in daytime television at RTÉ which will be a very different and exciting new role for me.”

Now RTÉ has wooed Gráinne, the station is looking for independent production companies to come up with a show to suit the star.
