€13.6m stolen from security vans since 2002
Labour justice spokesman Brendan Howlin suggested the current cash-in-transit system seemed to operate like “a massive ATM for the criminal gangs”.
The Wexford TD said figures contained in a parliamentary question from Justice Minister Michael McDowell showed a total of €13.6m was stolen in cash-in-transit robberies since 2002. He said €6.3m was taken last year.
