IARNRÓD ÉIREANN seem to have adopted a new slogan in the run-up to the launch of the company’s new high-speed trains: we’re getting there slowly.

Passengers on board the 9am Cork-bound departure from Heuston station yesterday were delighted to hear an announcement that they would be travelling behind one of the new trains on a test-run.

Their pleasure was short-lived, however, when they were also informed that they would be delayed getting into Cork. Sharing in the high-speed experience lost them an hour.
