Small trader ‘let down’

By Brian O’Mahony, Chief Business Correspondent

“From a small business point of view this was primarily an election budget”.

Ó Tuathaill left Eircom four years ago to start his own business. From day one it was a struggle.

His business, IBT Solutions, helps companies get the most from their IT systems.

Ó Tuathaill feels let down.

“I have been at the coal face for the past few years with little or no reward,” he said.

He said there is “no recognition or reward for efforts by people prepared to get out there and take a chance. The amount of headaches involved in putting a modest business together is not worth it.

“Where is the incentive when the rules of the game are against me from the start and providing for my family and retirement have to be the last on my list of priorities?”
