SIPTU to offer staff redundancy deal in overhaul

THE COUNTRY’S largest union, SIPTU, is to offer staff an “exit package” as part of a massive restructuring plan which will see the closure of some of its smaller offices.

However, insiders last night denied the union was seeking to make any of its 360 staff redundant.

Under the SIPTU plan, which will be voted on by staff later this month, those wishing to leave can avail of a deal involving a payment of €2,500 per year’s service, on top of the statutory redundancy payment of two weeks per year of service.
